At inception, the university was named as Georgia Tech Evening School of Commerce. The name was changed to the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia in 1947. After seven years, it was renamed as Georgia State College of Business Administration. However, its current name was bestowed in 1969.
With a current population of 53,000 plus students, the university also offers over 30 associate degree pathways at five campuses and through the largest online program in the state. Currently recognized as Spelman College, the institution was known as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary when founded in 1881. Located in Atlanta, the institution has a campus size of 39 acres. Spelman College has a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,120, with a gender distribution of only females. The institution is one of the black colleges for women in America.
The college has an acceptance rate of 59.6%. Half of the students admitted have an ACT score of 22 and 26 or an SAT score between 1080 and 1230. Some of the popular majors at the college include Economics, General; Economics, General; and Biology/Biological Sciences, General.
Founded in 1889 and located in the Atlanta suburb of Decatur, Georgia, Agnes Scott College has a total enrollment of 1,005 undergraduates, with half of the incoming students having an ACT score of 24 and 30 or an SAT score between 1130 and 1340. Part of the school’s admission requirements includes letters of recommendation and an excellent high school rank. With an acceptance rate of 65%, admission into the college is more selective.
Established in 1965 and located in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, Covenant College is a Presbyterian Church of America-affiliated liberal arts school with a 400 acres campus size. Students are required to live on campus for their first three years at the institution, after which they can live off-campus.
Covenant College accepts more than half of its applicants, with an acceptance rate of 98%. The college has a total undergraduate enrolment of 946, a sex distribution of 47% male students and 53% female students. Those who were admitted into the school have between 1100 and 1330 SAT score or an ACT score of 23 and 29. The most studied majors at the institution include Social Sciences, English Language and Literature/Letters, and Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies.
Founded in 1836, Wesleyan College is a private institution with a campus size of 200 acres. Located in Macon, Georgia, the college features a suburban setting. The institution has an enrollment of 754 undergraduates, with a gender distribution of 8% male students and 92% female students. With an acceptance rate of 44%, the school accepts less than half of the applicants.
Students admitted into Wesleyan College have an ACT score of 17 and 22 or an SAT score ranging from 940 and 1120. One-fourth of the admitted applicants achieved above these ranges while the remaining quarter got below the aforementioned scores.
Some of the most studied majors at Wesleyan College include Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, General Psychology, and General Business Administration and Management.
